Soneva Kiri, Koh Kood, Thailand
Soneva Kiri by Six Sense is a “Six Star” eco-resort located in Koh Kood, an island almost inhabited in Thailand. This dream location offers 29 villa resorts and many private accommodations, but the main attraction should be the special dining experience of the 16 ft (5 m) Suspended Tree Dining Pod, Soneva Kiri.
In Soneva Kiri, guests can taste food by sitting in an open pod among the trees in the tropical island of Koh Kood. Ingredients for the interesting menu – including ‘Canapés in the Canopy’ – are sourced from the resort’s organic gardens or local markets.
Set amidst the native masang trees is the Tree Pod, a dining experience that allows diners to feast on delicious dishes 5 meters above the ground. Made from woven bamboo, the framed pod can hold a maximum of four diners.
From above, guests enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding sandy beaches, while food and drinks are delivered by a flying waiter, who is tied into a zip-line. I repeat just that: a flying waiter will swing in the air to serve you food and drinks.
I know what you’re going to ask, and no, sadly the zip-line is only for waiters.
The food is equally impressive. The canopy has a dish called canapé, which consists of white fish marinated with red fruits, and another called forger’s basket, which consists of young coconut shrimp, scallop escabeche and pomegranate.
