Sky Restaurant Treetop Dining
Designer: Thilina Liyanage
Sri Lanka-based Liyanage’s is responsible for creating some of the most awe-inspiring architectural designs that are beautifully related to their surroundings – such as a jagged cabin sitting on a rocky beach, or a goldfish-shaped bar overlooking a sea. This time, Lianz’s design gives you a bird’s-eye view of a beak, as well as a bird’s-eye view of a valley!
The Sky Restaurant, as they are called, the cantilever from a mountain top, gives you a definite thrill while dining. Its design takes cues from a pitcher-plant, uses a boat-like base that projects off a slope, also giving you a great view of the mountainous area in front of you and below. Like many of Liyanage’s designs, the Sky Restaurant uses curved bamboo planks, giving it a distinct tropical feel that sets a contrast against the mountains … but then, look at it from above and it’s almost fairy- The mountain looks like light!
